If you’ve got theatrical ambitions, whether as a budding thespian or wanting to work behind the scenes, Doha Players want to hear from you.

The community theatre group has a packed schedule coming up and there are plenty of chances to get involved.

The Importance of Being Earnest
This is a quick, witty comedy in which two men try to find out how long they can pretend their name is Earnest. Identities get mixed up, babies are found in handbags and nonsense ensues. Set in the late 19th century, expect interweaving romances, lots of laughs and big surprises in on one of the most well-known plays of all time.

We Will Rock You
Set in a dystopian world, the musical tells the story of a group of Bohemians who struggle to restore the free exchange of thought and fashion and live music in a distant future where everyone dresses, thinks and acts the same. Featuring 24 of Queen’s best-loved hits, including We Are The Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody, Don’t Stop Me Now and Radio Ga Ga, We Will Rock You is guaranteed to blow your mind.

Aladdin Pantomime
Oh no, he isn’t? Oh yes, he is! The much-loved rags to riches tale of Aladdin is 2024’s end-of-year panto. The familiar cast includes Aladdin, his long-suffering mother, Widow Twankey, dastardly wizard, Abanazar, Princess Jasmine, Wishee Washee, the Genie of the Ring and Dar-Ling. And viewers can expect flying carpets, giant genies, popular songs, jokes galore, gorgeous costumes and sumptuous sets ranging from a Cave of Wonders full of dancing jewels to a Chinese Palace.

With recent shows such at Mathilda and The Lightning Thief The Percy Jackson Musical under their belts, The Doha Players have a stellar reputation, regularly performing to sold-out houses. And backstage help is always welcome. Chairlady Elaine Potter said: “We have a great group of people working on scenery, lighting, props, costume, make-up, hair, sound, foyer, front of house and backstage for shows. There are many ways to get involved in the creation of amazing shows as part of a welcoming and friendly community of volunteers.” ✤
