Al-Futtaim IKEA, the region’s leading Swedish home furnishing brand, today announced the launch of Textiles TAKE-BACK’ campaign in partnership with Qatar Charity, one of the largest humanitarian and development organizations in the region. With the aim of improving the livelihood of the under privileged, the ‘Home Textile Donation’ campaign aims to encourage our customers and the community to live a more sustainable lifestyle by donating unwanted textiles to Qatar Charity.   This is also in-line with IKEA’s ongoing vision to sustain and preserve the environment by maximizing the usage of textiles.

To support IKEA’s commitment of becoming people and planet positive by 2030, Al-Futtaim IKEA will place a donation box inside the store for customers to donate pre-loved bedding, towels, and blankets. The unwanted items will be sent to Qatar Charity and reused by those less privileged in needy communities.

Commenting on the partnership, Alexey Sitkin, Store Manager at Al-Futtaim IKEA, Qatar said, ‘’At IKEA, you will find a huge range of inspiring home furnishing solutions. The ‘Textiles TAKE-BACK’ campaign, in collaboration with Qatar Charity, will take us one step close to inspiring sustainable living and protecting the planet. I would encourage the larger community of Doha to come forward and support us in this cause. We are confident that by partnering with the largest humanitarian and development organization, our effort will help families afford a better life.’’

Through Al-Futtaim IKEA’s partnership efforts, the brand aims to lead the change towards a sustainable retail industry in the region, find new ways to preserve the earth’s precious resources and promote more sustainable practices.
