NEED FOR SPEED

Lusail Speed Fest will host two major motorsport events over two weekends.

A duo of exhilarating events is lined up to bring fast-paced, wheel-to-wheel action at the Lusail Speed Fest taking place at the iconic Lusail International Circuit.

The events providing racing fans with that high-speed satisfaction are: the Qatar Airways Qatar 1812 km – 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the 2024 MotoGP Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar.

Kicking things off is the WEC race which takes place from February 29 to March 2. Covering around 1,812km and lasting up to 10 hours, the race’s name Qatar 1812 km was chosen to commemorate Qatar National Day which falls on December 18.

It evokes a proud tradition as Qatar opens the 12th season of the prestigious global endurance series for the first time at the Lusail International Circuit. Featuring a record breaking 19 Hypercars and 18 LMGT3 entries, from 14 manufacturers, including Aston Martin, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche, plus the world’s best racing drivers, the Qatar 1812 km is sure to bring the very best in high-octane action.

In a bonus for fans, nine-time MotoGP world champion and motorsport icon Valentino Rossi will be swapping two wheels for four and making his WEC debut during this race. The schedule for the event sees free practice on February 29, qualifying for all teams and the Lusail Classic Race on March 1 and the thrilling race day finale on March 2.

Following quick on its heels is the 2024 MotoGP Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar taking place from March 8 to 10. It’s the only race in the MotoGP calendar to be held at night. Adding to the excitement, the first 400 spectators to enter the venue on Sunday, March 10, will have access to the Hero Walk, giving fans the chance to see MotoGP icons in the flesh!

Additionally, the 2024 MotoGP Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar will be supported by the first round of the Qatar Superstock 600 Championship on March 9. The schedule for the event is free practice on March 8, qualifying and sprint race on March 9 and the final race day on March 10.
