Turkish Airlines managed to get the Stage 2 certificate which signifies the highest level of compliance with the IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) program, an evaluation system designed to independently assess and improve the environmental management of an airline. By being the first airline that was qualified directly for this certificate, flag carrier proved itself to be a pioneer in the skies when it comes to environmentalist operations.

Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat received the certificate in the name of Turkish Airlines at the 78th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit organized in Doha, capital of Qatar. With IATA (International Air Transport Association) evaluating airlines all over the world under 8 different categories containing 92 requirements in the sustainability focused program, evaluation areas are listed as Leadership, Environment Management Plans, System and Documentation, Development.

On the success of the flag carrier, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat; “Apart from carrying passengers between continents we are also carrying the cultural, environmental and financial values to tomorrow. We showed our dedication on this area by becoming the first airline that qualified directly for the Stage 2 certificate which signifies the highest level of compliance with the IEnvA, a program designed as an “Environmental Management System” for aviation by IATA.”
