Perfect as our region hits peak summer inferno, the Sony REON POCKET PRO Plus is so much more than just another fan.

This cooling (and heating) device is a plate that sits directly against the base of your neck and can cool or heat the area it comes in contact with.

Designed to be virtually invisible under clothing, so it’s suitable even for business settings, the SMART COOL function automatically adjusts the temperature based on the user’s activity and the environment temperature, which is detected by onboard sensors. The result is seamless cooling, even when moving between extreme temperature variations.

The device has two new independent thermo modules and there’s a newly developed heat-dissipating fan with approximately twice the airflow of conventional fans – you’re looking at twice the cooling effect of a regular fan.

In addition, the upgraded battery has realised a maximum operating time of approximately 34 hours at COOL Level 1, around double the capability of the previous model.

The discrete light grey body has a new operation button. In addition to the conventional power ON/OFF, it can switch between COOL/WARM mode and select the level, allowing intuitive operation even in situations where a smartphone cannot be used.

The operation button is effectively sealed to prevent the ingress of most water droplets and dust. In addition, a cover has been installed on the USB port to allow use in even harsher environments.

A curved design has been created to ensure the cooling surface, which is twice as large as on previous models, is in contact with the body. There are also multicoloured vent covers that can be used to stop clothing covering and blocking the vents. ✤
