New Taycan GTS arrives at Porsche Centre Doha

Porsche’s pioneering, all-electric Taycan range continues to expand with the launch of the sports-oriented GTS introducing a third body style to the model series, available now to order at Porsche Centre Doha.

A Porsche wearing the GTS badge combines performance with luxury without sacrificing everyday usability. The Taycan GTS exemplifies this by offering t a new variation of the practical five-door style first seen with the Taycan Cross Turismo.

Enhanced styling and performance, as well as unique suspension tuning and an Electric Sport Sound, denotes this as the first electric GTS. It’s powered by a permanent magnet single-speed front motor combined with a larger, permanent magnet rear motor for all-wheel drive traction with a two-speed rear transmission. This delivers a total power output of 598 PS with Launch Control, slotting the GTS between the Taycan 4S (530 PS) and Taycan Turbo (625 PS).

Commenting on the launch, Salman Jassem Al Darwish, CEO at Porsche Centre Doha, said: “The Taycan continues to improve through over-the-air updates as we discover new technologies. The GTS brings the latest developments including a front electric motor that disconnects and de-energizes under partial load, so that when coasting and at a standstill, there is no drive torque on either axle. This was phased in to the Taycan range as part of the new model year updates but for the GTS, this means it is the first Taycan to break the 500 km range mark with 504 km based on WLTP figures.

GTS Performance

Power comes from the 93.4 kWh Performance Battery Plus and its 800-volt architecture that is shared with the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S. It can handle continuous demand while minimizing heat build-up which translates to high charging speeds of up to 270 kW, helping it charge from 5 to 80 percent in 22.5 minutes. With Launch Control activated, the GTS has a power overboost of up to 440 kW (598 PS) and uses that to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in within 3.7 seconds on its way to a maximum speed of 250 km/h. For passengers and bystanders, the performance is enhanced with a new Porsche Electric Sport Sound that has been tuned to be deeper and louder than previously.

Standard performance features include Adaptive Air Suspension with Smart Lift, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and Porsche Active Suspension Management which has been tailored to the GTS to benefit its lateral dynamics, while its optional rear-axle steering has also been modified for better performance.

Distinctions

The new GTS provides an array of distinctive elements over the Taycan range, most notably visual differences which include the use of the SportDesign front fascia and side skirts featuring the GTS logo with the side window trim in high-gloss black. A louvred rear diffuser continues the high-gloss black theme offset by its rear badge in matte black. The standard 20-inch Taycan Turbo S Aero Design wheels use an exclusive satin-black finish and the rear light strip features the Porsche logo in black, while the LED-Matrix-Design headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus are also tinted black. The final touch is the exterior mirror cap with the bottom in body colour and the base in black with optional 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels available in satin black.

Suspension and brakes come from the Taycan sedan but have been tweaked for the GTS with its red, six-piston front caliper and four-piston rear caliper brakes borrowed from the 4S and equipped with 40mm larger front rotors taking them to 390 mm while the rears remain the same at 358 mm.

GTS Interior

The Race-Tex interior package used in other GTS models carries over to the Taycan GTS with the roof lining and steering wheel covered in Race-Tex while the driver and passenger seats feature 18-way electric adjustability and memory functions with “GTS” logos embedded in the front and rear headrests. The door sill guards and the interior trim are in brushed black aluminium with a black accent package while the familiar multi-screen dash comes with many of the standard technology and comfort features from other Taycan models such as automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

A Sport Chrono Package with stopwatch lets the driver switch between driving modes (Range, Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual) from the GT multifunction sports steering wheel with the Sport mode tuned to be more dynamic over other models.

An optional GTS interior package consists of deviated stitching in Carmine red or Chalk on the dash, doors, armrests, steering wheel and seats with matching seat belts, while the trim on the steering wheel, centre console and door trim are all in matte carbon.

A Panoramic Roof with Variable Light Control, a world first in the automotive sector, is available as an option which lets the driver adjust the amount of light by activating nine liquid crystal film segments. Four pre-set patterns comprising clear, matte, 40% (Semi) and 60% (Bold) can be activated via the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and when the vehicle is switched off, the roof defaults to matte but remembers the previous setting as soon as it starts again.

The new Taycan GTS is available now at Porsche Centre Doha.
