Qatar Museums’ Culture Pass invites members to exclusive behind-the-scenes tours.

A new initiative, the Mathafek programme, has been launched – an annual opportunity for Culture Pass Plus and Culture Pass Family members to enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes access to Qatar Museums’ venues in order to gain an understanding of the innerworkings of the museums and galleries through a series of exclusive tours, talks and events.

Throughout June, Culture Pass members are invited to attend the following visits, subject to registration.

EVENT: Mathaf Guided Family Visit
VENUE: Arab Museum of Modern Art
DATES & TIMES: June 2 and 9, from 12pm to 1pm

EVENT: Art Lessons With Ismail Azzam
VENUE: Manara Studio – Mathaf
DATES & TIMES: June 15, from 4pm to 7pm Join artist Ismael Azzam for art lessons at Mathaf and learn techniques in portraiture drawing using pencil, charcoal and paint. Lessons are offered to people with basic to intermediate sketching and drawing skills. Each participant must bring their own sketchbook. Participants may also be asked to sit in as models to have their portraits done. Admission is free and open to those aged 18 and above.

EVENT: 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum Tour
VENUE: Khalifa International Stadium, Al Waab Street
DATES & TIMES: June 4, from 2pm to 4pm This tour covers the unique exhibits and remarkable collection that highlight the role of sports in cultural development by exploring the history and contemporary significance of the Olympic Games, stories of sporting heroes from around the world, as well as the development of sports in Qatar.

EVENT: Msheireb Museums Tour
VENUE: Msheireb Museums Downtown Doha
DATES & TIMES: June 18 and 25, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm These tours reveal unique aspects of Qatar’s cultural and social development in which the people of Qatar engage, converse and exchange thoughts about both their past and their future.

EVENT: Your Brain to Me, My Brain to You Exhibition – Family Saturday-Drop-In Projection
VENUE: Learning Studio, National Museum of Qatar
DATES & TIMES: June 25, from 10am to 12pm Take a tour of the Your Brain to Me, My Brain to You installation and learn how to focus on the present with a 30-minute mindfulness session. Get creative with free hands-on artmaking. Experiment with mirrored light and projections to create dream-like collages inspired by the installation.

EVENT: An Introduction To The Storage And Handling Of Collections
VENUE: Learning Studio, National Museum of Qatar
DATES & TIMES: June 1, from 4pm to 6pm Participants will learn about the theory behind the care of collections with focus on storage and handling, followed by a demonstration of handling techniques and storage options which allow for the best care of the collections. ✤
