In a treat for dance fans, the ‘most splendid ballet of all time’ comes to the city on April 3.

Swan Lake, the spectacular masterpiece from Petipa and Tchaikovsky, is brought to life by Moscow Ballet “La Classique” under the directorship of founder Elik Melikov.

With lavish costumes, magnificent stage sets and a troupe of talented dancers, the performance will tell the tragic love story of Prince Siegfried and Princess Odette – who’s been cursed by an evil sorcerer to live as a swan during daylight.

Only true love can break the spell, but the sorcerer’s daughter, Odile, in a cloud of black tulle, has other ideas.

From the moon-lit lake where elegant swans silently glide, to the magnificent opulence of the palace ballroom, the ballet promises a tale of drama and tragic romance, as old as time.

There are two performances, afternoon and evening, at Al Mayassa Theatre, Qatar National Convention Centre and tickets start at QR225. ✤
