Sirine Boudjadi stops by La Maison De L’Entrecôte to see if Doha really can pull off ‘Paris in West Bay’. Spoiler: the décor says yes, the steak screams absolutely.
Experience the taste of Paris in Doha’: that’s what the Instagram bio of La Maison De L’Entrecôte promises, and, to be fair, it delivers. Hidden inside Le Méridien City Center Doha, right in the heart of West Bay, the place somehow pulls off the smartest little teleportation trick. One step in and you’re suddenly in a Boulevard Saint-Germain brasserie: red leather booths, green velvet banquettes, round gingham-topped tables, classic iron chairs. Doha’s buildings stand right outside the windows, but inside, it’s all warm light and unmistakable French charm.
The One And Only Entrecôte
If there’s one thing you need to know about the restaurant, it’s this: everything revolves around one legendary dish. The entrecôte. The icon. The classic that Paris made famous and Doha has fully adopted. The concept is beautifully simple. No endless menu, no hesitation, no “what should I order?” stress. You’re here for the steak. Full stop.

Here’s what it looks like: thin slices of trimmed entrecôte served on a shiny silver platter, resting in the restaurant’s iconic secret sauce. If the word ‘secret’ makes you nervous, don’t worry. Before anything even reaches the table, the team checks for allergies to make sure you can actually enjoy the star of the show. They’ll never share the full recipe (obviously), but we did manage to pick up a few hints here and there. Butter, basil, tarragon, shallots, black pepper, nutmeg… I’m not saying these are all the ingredients. I’m not saying they’re in the ‘official’ order. But you get the idea: it’s herby, buttery, warm and addictive. The steak itself is cooked exactly the way we asked, still juicy and tender, with those perfect grill marks. Because it’s served already sliced, every piece gets its fair share of sauce. No dry bites, no guessing, no fighting with your knife. It’s a simple dish, almost minimalist, but that’s exactly why it works. On the side, things stay beautifully classic: the signature green salad with crunchy walnuts for a fresh reset and, of course, a generous pile of skinny, golden fries. I tell myself I’ll take it easy… and then absolutely don’t.
Meet The Entrecôte’s Rebel Cousin
For the truly hardcore food lovers among you, the ones who read ‘signature dish’ and immediately wonder what else the kitchen can do with it, there’s a new special twist on the classic: the Smash Burger. It’s basically the entrecôte’s more indulgent, slightly chaotic alter ego. Instead of neat slices, you get a smash-seared entrecôte striploin patty tucked inside a soft brioche bun, the restaurant’s logo branded right on top like a little promise of what’s coming. Inside, it’s pure comfort: melted Emmental, a swipe of cream cheese for that extra richness, crunchy pickles and, of course, the famous signature sauce making another star appearance. Juicy, messy, satisfying in that “don’t-talk-to-meI’m-eating” way. If the entrecôte is the legend, this burger is the fun, guilty-pleasure remix. Perfect for anyone who wants all the flavour… with a little extra attitude.
Not a big beef person? No worries, La Maison De L’Entrecôte has clearly thought of everyone. Alongside the signature steak and the indulgent smash burger, they’ve added two alternatives: a grilled chicken supreme and a seabass fillet, both served exactly the same way. So now you officially have zero excuses not to walk in with your meat-obsessed friends!

The Sweet Ending
I’m not saying this because I’m French (I mean, maybe a little) but it is a fact: France is the country of pastries. And at La Maison De l’Entrecôte, all the classics are there, some even with a fun little twist. We kick things off with the Tarte au Citron Meringuée: a vanilla sponge base, lemon custard, a swirl of brûléed meringue on top and a drizzle of vanilla sauce. Then comes the Mille-Feuille Revisité, all crisp layers and silky vanilla cream, delivered with a tiny cocoa Eiffel Tower on the plate (because if you’re already going Parisian, you might as well go all in). Other options include Profiteroles au Chocolat and the famous Vacherin with meringue, vanilla and praline ice cream, hot chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Très gourmand, as it should be. ✤
