McLaren’s Oscar Piastri – who sped to a comfortable victory in the sprint, then followed it up with the fastest final lap in qualifying – will start the Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2025 in pole position, ahead of teammate Lando Norris and four-time world champion, Max Verstappen.
The Australian driver, who is currently second in the drivers’ rankings with 374 points – 22 behind Lando and just three ahead of Max – was in complete control through the sprint after starting from pole and was never challenged by Mercedes’ George Russell, who came in second, ahead of championship leader, Lando.
This means that Oscar and Lando occupy the first two spots on the grid, followed by Max with George in fourth and his Mercedes teammate, Kimi Antonelli, in fifth.
Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar is sixth with Williams’ Carlos Sainz in seventh place, Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso in eighth, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly in ninth leaving Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to round out the top 10.
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton endured another tough time in what seems to be an uncooperative Ferrari and will start in 17th place.
Off the track, Formula One and rock fans will be able to enjoy themselves even more after the race when legendary American heavy metal band, Metallica, take the stage to belt out some of their most famous numbers.
