The preview service of six stations on the Orange line – Marina, Marina Promenade, Yacht Club, Esplanade, Energy City South and Legtaifiya, which connects Lusail Tram to the Doha Metro network – forms part of the first phase.

In a warning about the new line, Qatar Rail tweeted: “We urge all road users and pedestrians in the area to abide by traffic signals on the roads to ensure safety for all.”

Qatar Rail noted that metroexpress bookings can be made to/from the following Lusail Tram stations: Energy City South, Esplanade, Yacht Club, Marina Promenade, and Marina from January 1, 2022. However, metroexpress bookings between Legtaifiya Station and the Lusail area will be discontinued from January 8, 2022.

The existing Travel Card can be used on both the Lusail Tram and the Doha Metro with no additional costs but passengers “must always remember to tap in and tap out using the validator on board the tram to avoid extra charges”.

Apart from allowing passengers to seamlessly move throughout the Metro and tram networks, Travel Cards also provide access to Qatar Rail’s metroexpress and metrolink services.

Once fully operational, Qatar Rail said the Lusail Tram network will connect various government offices, residential towers, leisure and sports facilities, avenues, marinas, and other major attractions across Lusail City.

An eco- and user-friendly mode of transportation, trams can accommodate up to 209 passengers in both Standard and Family Class (once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted).

The preview service runs from 6am to 11pm from Saturday to Wednesday, 6pm to 11.59pm on Thursdays, and between 2pm and 11.59pm on Fridays.

The six underground tram stations in the preview service feature a customer information centre, Travel Card vending machines, live digital service updates, separate male and female prayer facilities and restrooms that cater to people with mobility impairments.

According to Qatar Rail, the tram stations also include clear directional signages to help customers navigate throughout their journey easily. All stations are equipped with CCTV and a first aid room to maintain the security and safety of travellers.

The 28km long Lusail Tram Network is comprised of four lines and 25 stations, including two stations connecting with the Metro network. ✤
