CELEBRATE RAMADAN TOGETHER AT MANDARIN ORIENTAL, DOHA

After two years of restricted Ramadan Celebrations, Mandarin Oriental, Doha is delighting guests with a series of offers to welcome the Holy Month in style, as only they know how.

It’s that time of year when we look forward to getting together with friends and family to enjoy a hearty meal after long days of fasting. In recent years, safety precautions due to the Covid-19 pandemic put a stop to our usual gatherings. So, we can’t wait to see this year’s offerings when tents and restaurants will be putting on a show to welcome us all back. And our first port of call will be a visit to Mandarin Oriental, Doha to take in some of their legendary hospitality.

Feast at Mosaic

We’ll be heading straight to the showpiece Mosaic Restaurant. With its mashrabiya-style screens and spacious indoor and outdoor seating, the venue lends itself perfectly to the Ramadan buffet concept. Diners can tuck into a variety of mezzes, flavoursome grills, traditional feasts and all-time favourites.

And, when you’ve had your fill of the glorious traditional dishes that are a must-try during Ramadan, Mosaic has you covered with a range of speciality dishes inspired by the origins and flavours found along the ancient Silk Route.

Alongside the beloved Arabic dishes, the talented chefs in their open kitchen will rustle up a feast of authentic dishes from Japanese sushi and sashimi and sizzling hot Tandoor oven dishes to the exotic-tasting curries of India and delicate dim sum and wok-fried dishes from China and Southeast Asia. And don’t even get us started on the desserts! Ramadan is the one time of year when we allow ourselves to shun the diet and try absolutely everything in the dessert section. Let’s face it, if you’re going to do it, you’ll not find a better place than Mandarin Oriental to do it – we might even take home a special cake, of which more a little later.

The Iftar buffet runs daily from sunset to 8.30pm and Suhour buffet is from 9pm to 2am. Each is priced at QR240, including Ramadan beverages.

Children up to 12 years eat free when dining with their parents. And, for an opportunity to make some extra special Ramadan family memories, youngsters can join in with Storytelling Adventures daily from 7pm to 7.30pm at the Awbal Room where Papinee’s enchanted forest awaits them. The venue has been transformed into an enchanted forest filled with the animal characters of Papinee, such as Vani the monkey from the jungles of Mexico and Strix the owl from the bustling city of London.

A Sweet Treat

So, back to that cake we mentioned earlier. Decadent and delicious the special Arabian-inspired Ramadan Cake is designed exclusively for the Holy Month and is part of The Heritage Collection by The Mandarin Cake Shop. Made of oldfashioned Victoria Sponge with biscuit crunch, hazelnut crème brûlée and milk chocolate mousse, who could possibly resist?

It’s probably a good thing that this offer is only available from April 2 throughout the Holy Month. You can order yours online from doha.mandarinorientalshop.com and pick-up is from 10am to 10pm daily.

Ramadan to Go

Though we will most definitely be making the most of Mandarin Oriental’s amazing dine-in experience during the Holy Month, we’ll also be hosting a few festive feasts at home. If you’re also planning to be the host or hostess with the mostest, join us in taking advantage of the hotel’s limitedtime Ramadan to Go offer. Simply choose from one of the set menu packages, including Chicken Biryani, Sayadieh with Seabass, Lamb Ouzi, a variety of Mezze and Mixed Grill, place your order at doha.mandarinorientalshop.com and head to The Mandarin Cake Shop between 10am and 10pm to pick up your feast. We, of course, will not be pretending it’s all our own work, though we’re sorely tempted.
