The General Manager of The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa talks about ‘coming home’ to Qatar and plans for the future.

Congratulations on your new appointment. You’ve worked in Qatar before, what made you decide to return?
Thank you! Returning to Qatar truly feels like coming home. The country’s hospitality scene has grown remarkably, and I was inspired by the chance to re-join this dynamic market. Leading The Westin Doha — a property that perfectly embodies wellness, comfort and modern design — is both a privilege and an exciting challenge.

What’s your vision for the hotel in the short and medium term; any new developments or offerings you can share?
In the short term, my focus is on elevating every aspect of the guest journey and enhancing our position as one of Doha’s preferred venues for weddings and events. We’re refining our dining concepts, refreshing key spaces and strengthening our digital presence. In the medium term, I want The Westin Doha to be recognised as the city’s leading destination for unforgettable celebrations and exceptional event experiences — a place where every occasion feels truly special.

How would you describe your management style and how will you implement this at The Westin?
My style is collaborative but results-driven. I believe in empowering associates, encouraging creativity and building a culture of accountability. A motivated, engaged team is the foundation of exceptional guest experiences — and that’s exactly what I aim to nurture here.

You’ve spent your 20-plus year hospitality career with Marriott Group, what is it about the company that inspires such long-term loyalty?
Marriott’s people-first culture has always inspired me. The company values its associates as much as its guests, fosters innovation and provides real opportunities for growth. That commitment and sense of belonging have kept me motivated for over two decades.

On a personal note, do you have a secret talent or bucket list item that would surprise our readers?
I wouldn’t call it a secret talent, but I’m a devoted dog lover — spending time with my dog is my favourite way to unwind. I also have a passion for travel, and Amsterdam is one of the cities I love returning to. Its mix of culture, design and relaxed atmosphere always inspires me and helps me recharge. ✤
