The General Manager of the recently opened Andaz Doha by Hyatt tells us about the property and shares the importance of adaptability.

Congratulations on the opening of Andaz Doha. Please tell us a bit about the hotel, what makes it stand out in Qatar’s exceptional hospitality scene?
Thank you! The opening of Andaz Doha ignites a new chapter for Hyatt in the region, introducing the third Andaz property in the Middle East and joining iconic destinations like London, Dubai and Tokyo.
Andaz Doha is an eclectic celebration of Qatari culture, where luxury and creativity collide. Every detail is infused with local character from a sophisticated palette of gold, rose gold and bronze to maroon accents honouring the Qatari flag.
Designed by Brime Robbins, the hotel weaves art, history and fashion into an imaginative atmosphere. Starting with the striking ‘Airlock’ entrance, a canopy inspired by Sadu weaving, and a replica of a Katara pigeon tower. Ornate doorways, water-inspired carpets and disruptive art pieces encourage exploration and self-expression at every turn.
Andaz Doha is more than a hotel. It’s a destination for discovery, creativity and authentic moments that immerse guests in the spirit of Doha.

How do you plan to promote the property to maintain the opening buzz, and what can visitors expect?
Our strategy is centred on storytelling and creating experiences that truly resonate with our guests. We aim to keep the momentum alive through curated cultural events, collaborations with local artists and partnerships with influencers who share our vision of creativity and authenticity.
Visitors can expect vibrant social spaces and exceptional dining concepts that celebrate both global and local flavours. Highlights include:
● The Salt Road Doha (Lobby): An exclusive firehouse culinary concept that pays tribute to the essence of salt, one of the earth’s oldest and most vital elements, combined with farmto-table selections.
● Mr. & Mrs. Hawker (Third Floor): Inspired by Singapore’s iconic hawker centres, this venue embraces a market-to-table philosophy, offering bold, authentic flavours in a lively setting with the only enclosed outdoor terrace in Doha, boasting stunning city and sea views.
● Mumble Jungle (Third Floor): A rainforest-inspired bar serving vibrant mixed drinks and mocktails, drawing on Afro-Cuban classics for a truly immersive experience.

You’ve worked at several properties across the region. What prompted you to make the move to Qatar, and has it lived up to your expectations?
Qatar is an exciting market with a dynamic hospitality scene, especially with its growing global profile. The opportunity to introduce the Andaz brand here was incredibly appealing. it’s a chance to create something new and meaningful. So far, it has exceeded my expectations. The warmth of the people, the cultural richness and the ambitious vision for the country make it a fantastic place to be.

You’ve worked your way up in your career from telephone operator to running the whole show. How did you plot your career trajectory and did you always expect to come this far? What advice would you give to others wanting to follow in your footsteps?
My journey has been driven by passion and a willingness to learn at every stage. I didn’t have a fixed roadmap, but I embraced every opportunity and challenge with commitment. Working across different markets taught me adaptability and resilience. For those aspiring to grow in this industry, my advice is: stay curious, be hands-on and never underestimate the power of building strong relationships. Success comes from consistency and a genuine love for hospitality.

On a more personal note, how do you spend your free time? Do you have a secret talent you can share with us?
I enjoy exploring local culture and discovering new culinary experiences, it’s something that inspires my work as well. As for a secret talent, I have a knack for connecting with people and making them feel at home, which I guess isn’t so secret in this industry! Outside of work, I also love spending time with family and staying active. ✤
