Doha Festival City Celebrates Qatar National Day with a Host of Safe Community-focused Activities and Stunning Decorations

To commemorate Qatar National Day and to share in the festive spirit with the community, Doha Festival City will adorn National decorations as well as host a variety of special events whilst implementing the stringiest safety measures to safeguard the community

Doha Festival City, Qatar’s one and only choice for shopping, dining, and entertainment, will hold this year’s Qatar National Day festivities from 14th to 18th December,  between 2pm and 10pm with a range of family friendly activities.

To mark this special occasion, messages of gratitude will be placed throughout the Mall, while shoppers will get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique festivities and enjoy the celebratory atmosphere of the Mall.

A giant declaration of love for Qatar will be displayed at the Atrium Node on the ground floor through a 3D ‘I Love Qatar’ interactive display, available for guests to take pictures whilst enjoying the art piece and relishing in memorable moments.

Visitors to the Mall are also invited to share their appreciation for Qatar by placing messages on the ‘Message Wall’, installed at the Market Corridor on the ground floor. To limit the touching of surfaces and provide a contactless and safe experience, Doha Festival City will invite Qatar residents to share their congratulations messages and wishes on the Mall’s website via the QR code. The messages will then be printed and placed on the ‘Message Wall’. The submissions will be accepted until December 17th.

Staying true to providing engaging experiences, Doha Festival City will also feature an augmented reality ‘Selfie Mirror’, placed at the Centre Court on the first floor on 14th, 15th, and 16th December. The installation is composed of a photobooth with a sensor placed on top of the screen – guests who would like to take pictures will be invited to stand in front of the booth that will automatically snap their photos, with no touching involved and in line with the safety measures implemented by the Mall. To give a taste of Qatar’s unique culture, participants will also be offered the opportunity to try traditional Qatari attire for their photos and change the background virtually by waving with their hand from afar. Guests’ photos will be shared with them via email, and the best picture will enjoy a an iphone12 prize from the Mall, to be announced on the Doha Festival City Instagram page on 18th December 2020.

Doha Festival City will also distribute miniature Qatari National Flags to all visitors – flags can be collected at the Mall’s entrances and customer service desks on the ground floor throughout the whole five days of festivities.

Robert Hall, Doha Festival City’s General Manager, said: “We are delighted to celebrate Qatar National Day with all our visitors, offering them the opportunity to experience the Qatari culture through our one-of-a-kind celebratory atmosphere. This is the perfect occasion to showcase our loyalty and gratitude to our home, Qatar, that has generously supported us for the past four years, and we look forward to welcoming shoppers to join the festivities we have planned at the Mall, whilst adhering to the safest measures to protect our community”.

To offer a truly festive atmosphere, the Mall will be decorated with Qatar flags throughout the nodes, along with hanging banners and special lighting; guests will also enjoy special décor lighting and 3D animated projections on the Mall’s entrance façade as well as Oryx shape installations.
