Culture, Education and Community Engagement

There’s a diverse range of events in store at Qatar National Library (QNL) this month, including the return of its popular mentorship programme.
April 10 kicks off the month with a special evening with musicians from Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, celebrating the significant contributions of women to global arts and music. There’ll be a series of workshops by female composers such as Clara Schumann, Cécile Chaminade and Ethel Smyth, complemented by video projections honouring female artists in visual arts and architecture.
On April 12, the Murshidi Mentorship Program (formerly known as the QNL Mentorship Program) returns under its new identity, offering one-on-one mentorship opportunities for young people seeking guidance on academic and career pathways. The introductory session will be followed by two additional sessions on April 19 and 26.
The Library will host a two-day academic symposium on April 14 and 15 exploring the rich traditions of Moroccan book and manuscript production. The event is part of the QatarMorocco 2024 Year of Culture and also celebrates Arabic Manuscript Day 2025. It will examine the role of modern technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital humanities, in the study and preservation of manuscripts.
On April 19, families are invited to a heartwarming day of sensory exploration in recognition of Autism Awareness Month. The event, held in collaboration with the Parents Autism Platform and tailored for children with autism and their families, will feature interactive activities, sensory-friendly storytelling and opportunities to connect with the Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) to learn about the latest autism research. A specialist from the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) will also be available for private consultations, offering guidance and support for families.
On April 26, the library will host a workshop dedicated to CV writing, cover letters and personal statements. Whether applying for a job or university programme, this session offers students and graduates practical advice and personalised feedback. Participants will also learn about the one-on-one support available at the library.
