AN ITALIAN DEAL

We heard that there was a new deal in town, being called the ‘must-have’ dining experience, so we sent our very own Anushay Taimur Khan over to taste some authentic Italian delicacies at a Business Lunch in Sirocco, Holiday Inn Doha – The Business Park, which blew our taste buds away….

On a Sunday afternoon, I got the ideal opportunity to review the Business Lunch at Sirocco. Since I have meetings all over town, I feel like it is the easiest to dine at the nearest hotel. Similarly, Holiday Inn was my choice for the day since I was on the other side of Westbay at this point.
I was welcomed by their friendly staff and escorted to a table by the receptionist where I immediately dug in the food (thanks, hunger pangs!). I was pleasantly surprised to see the variety I got for QR60. The buffet table was diverse which included an entire spot dedicated to assorted bread, different cheese, a make your own bruschetta station and a salad bar. There was a pasta section in the corner where the chef makes your pasta live and you can simply choose what you want starting with the pasta, sauce, meat and whatever additional things that you want while you start off at the buffet.

I started my meal at the salad bar where I mixed my own choice of toppings, salad leaves and vegetable, and since I totally fail at being healthy even at the salad station, I liked having a variety of sauces to add to my mix. I absolutely love the fact that you don’t wait too long before you dive into your main course because, with the lunch break, you know how the clock ticks! I was enjoying my hummus, bread, and some olive oil when my main course arrived. I always try a few versions of the main course and this day was no different for me. I chose 3 different kinds of pasta; the classic chicken alfredo, the mushroom risotto, and the spaghetti. Other options included the seafood pasta and you could also choose between the red or white sauce. I can be old school when it comes to my pasta and usually always side with chicken alfredo but, the risotto won this rigid heart over. I believe in having a slightly fuller lunch and the risotto served that purpose for me with the rich taste of cream & cheese. While I was eating my heart out and munching on the bread, I was served with the refreshing Sanpellegrino Aranciata which is a traditional Italian drink that has notes of juicy squeezed orange juice with a hint of caramelized orange and bitter oranges as well.

For the first time, I honestly didn’t have the space for dessert but if you know me and my reviews, you know my meal will never be complete without having something sweet. If I have to pick, I will recommend the tiramisu, which comes in the perfect bite size, due to the bold flavor and the smooth cool cream. It is hard to believe that I had an entire three-course meal at such a low cost but, Sirocco is definitely bringing in the crowd with a deal as incredible as this. ✤
