Qatar Museums has announced that it is hosting a series of virtual activities throughout the month of February for children of all ages.

Qatar Museums has announced that it is hosting a series of virtual activities throughout the month of February for children of all ages to learn more about Qatar’s modern history, the science of plants and the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ)’s collection.

Following are the details:

* Museum of Islamic Art (MIA)

  1. Science of Plants:
    Wednesday, February 16 from 4pm to 5pm
    for children aged 5 to 7 years
    Islamic art is blooming with plants, leaves and flowers in almost all kinds of objects — from carpets and clothing to metalwork and stone. This virtual workshop will explore the variety of flowers and plants, learn how to identify them and discuss what makes plants so special.

  1. Planet Kids Club — Plants & Flowers:
    Thursday, February 24 from 4pm to 5pm
    for children aged 5 to 11 years
    “Are you interested in the environment, understanding more about our planet and the challenges it faces? Join us for Planet Kids Club our monthly story-time, discussion, eco top tips and activity linking MIA to protecting our planet and what we can all do to make a difference,” QM said.

* National Museum of Qatar

  1. Virtual Field Trip:
    every Sunday to Wednesday from 9am to 12noon (one hour per virtual trip)
    Languages: Arabic, English, French, Italian, Chinese, Spanish, Turkish and German
    High school students in Qatar and abroad can experience the National Museum of Qatar from their clasrooms. The virtual trip delivers a culturally stimulating adventure led by one of NMoQ’s museum guides. Schools can choose one of the following themes: Life on the Coast in Qatar or The Modern History of Qatar.

  2. The Discovery of Black Gold and Transformation in Qatar:
    Mondays, February 14 (in Arabic) from 4pm to 5pm; and Tuesdays,
    February 15 (in English)
    from 4pm to 5pm.
    During these virtual sessions, participants aged 16 years and older will learn about the discovery of oil and gas in Qatar and the positive impact the natural reserves had on the transformation and development of the country.

  3. Noura and the Ball Place Virtual Storytelling:
    February 12, in Arabic from 4pm to 5pm
    and in English from 5.15pm to 6pm.
    Children aged five to 11 years will learn about adopting a healthy and sporting lifestyle through ‘Noora and the Ball’, a story about Noora’s challenge to learn the game of football. After listening to the story, children will be encouraged to engage in variety of fun activities.
