A Catalyst For Cultural Dialogue

Foodies in Doha can rejoice because, for nearly a month – from April 21 to May 18 – they will be able to sample the delicious wares of acclaimed Franco-Palestinian chef and hotelier, Fadi Kattan who will be in the Qatari capital courtesy of the Chefs in Residence programme – a global culinary exchange presented by Qatar Creates.
Fadi will take residence at the Fire Station Gallery where he will first conduct a masterclass called Flavours of Palestine: Reimagined at Café 999 on April 21 before personally hosting a Chefs in Residence dinner at the same venue that night and on April 22.
Thereafter, from April 23 to May 18, Café 999 will feature the Chefs in Residence Menu, created and curated by Fadi himself. The essence of Palestinian culinary traditions will be beautifully captured by the special menu, blending aromatic profiles and vibrant tastes with refined, contemporary twists and subtle local Qatari influences. Celebrating cultural authenticity and innovation, each dish is a creative reflection of Fadi’s culinary philosophy.
The famous chef is internationally celebrated as the modern voice of Palestinian cuisine. Educated at Institut Vatel and trained in Paris and London, Fadi returned home to Bethlehem to tell his own unique story of Palestine food at his first restaurant – Fawda. He is also executive chef and partner at Akub, London’s first modern Palestinian restaurant; author of the widely acclaimed book Bethlehem and has recently expanded his global culinary vision with the opening of Louf in Toronto.
Fadi’s dishes creatively evolve traditional recipes through modern technique, rich storytelling and a deep commitment to seasonality and locality – supporting the farmers, artisans and communities that surround him wherever he takes root. His restaurants, writings, and culinary initiatives emphasise food’s role as a powerful medium for cultural preservation and dialogue; celebrating Palestine’s vibrant flavours, famous hospitality, storied traditions, and resilient spirit through vivid culinary experiences as rich in narrative as they are in taste.
